We are Butternut Bakehouse, a bakery serving charming, rustic handcrafted pastries located on Leonard Street in Belmont. Due to our focus on quality small-batch baked goods, and our community-centric customer service, our business is growing, and our team is expanding. We are seeking passionate back of house team members eager to cultivate a creative, fun, and consistent café environment.

Possible shifts include:

  • weekdays 4 am-11:30am or 8am-4pm

  • weekends 4:30 am -12p or 8am-3pm

  • Expected to have 2 days off per week

Our bakers at Butternut bring life into the cafe with warm pastries, delicious smells, and good energy. Their ultimate goal is to prepare high quality baked goods and contribute their creative inspirations to our special and seasonal menus. A successful applicant is friendly, outgoing, and will have back of house skills from previous experience, attention to detail, and be a proactive, community-oriented team player.

You will be part of a small team in a growing business and will have the opportunity to learn many baking techniques.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Our bakers responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • 2 or 3 shifts of early morning bake-off for retail pastry counter and wholesale –pastries, scones, croissants, morning buns, mini cakes, cookies

  • Production of dough, scones, biscuits, sandwiches

  • Prep work: scooping cookie dough, wrapping cakes, mix fillings, portioning dough, mixing dough, almond croissant prep

  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently under pressure

  • Excellent attention to detail with a focus on recipe adherence and quality control

  • Basic math skills for measuring ingredients accurately and managing portion sizes

  • Maintain an orderly, clean and organized kitchen

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Have at least 6 months professional baking experience and industry references

  • Strong work ethic and able to work as a team

  • Available to work weekends

  • Attention to detail. Able to assess product quality to maintain high consistency of offerings

  • Self-motivated individual with passion for food

  • Dependable , fun and positive attitude

  • Able to lift 50 lbs and stand for long periods

  • High standards of cleanliness and quality of work

  • Dependable transport

  • 1 year commitment

Starting pay $18-21 per hour
