Baker and Savory Cook

Are you passionate about cooking? Love talking about food? We are looking for an individual who strives for quality and with integrity and enjoys the companionship of others in a small bakery.

We are Butternut Bakehouse, a bakery serving charming, rustic handcrafted pastries. Due to our focus on quality small-batch baked goods, and our community-centric customer service, our business is growing, and our team is expanding. We are seeking passionate back of house team members eager to cultivate a creative, fun, and consistent café environment.

The cafe is located in Belmont Center, at 49 Leonard Street, right off the 74 and 75 bus lines, and the Belmont Commuter Rail Stop on the Fitchburg Line and Arlington’s cafe is located at 787 Mass Ave.

Nice to meet you!

We are looking for a hard-working and reliable baker AND prep cook that will be splitting their time between our Belmont and Arlington location. This person will be a full time back-of house and will be able to do both pastry and savory departments of the bakery. The savory side requires basic cooking duties such as chopping, boiling and roasting vegetables, baking egg souffle, assembling sandwiches, monitor stock levels, and take on other cooking tasks as they arise. The bakery side involves one morning bake-off per week and one full day pastry prepping involving making dough, cake batters etc. All other days will be split between savory and pastry.

A successful applicant is friendly and will have some industry experience, attention to detail, and be a proactive, community-oriented team player. You must understand and comply with food and sanitation guidelines and regulations, be quick and diligent, and be willing to improve on the job.
